Inspiration
Our mission is inspired by the mother of the Rhineland mystic movement, Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179).
Our muse von Bingen was the ultimate avant-gardener of her day, communing with the inner qualities of the plants that she grew in her garden. We endeavor to maintain that same connection as we create, and thereby invite all to reestablish this connection through the plants that compose our creations.
The creative house of Hildegaard came into being at the intersection of plants and humans; light and life; the mystical and the physical; mind and body. Hildegaard is the result of Lia’s fascination with mystical light and how plants embody the contemplative intent to receive sunlight and transform it into life energy. With Hildegaard, Lia seeks to connect human beings to the aesthetic radiance, heightened awareness, and joy of being that only plants can give us.
As plants receive divine light from the sun, transforming it into life energy, so do we seek to make ourselves increasingly receptive to that energy for our own growth and greening.
As Hildegard von Bingen understood the human person as an interrelated part of everything else, so we recognize the need to improve our relationship with Nature to improve our relationship with ourselves — and vice versa. As we grow, harvest, create, and refine, we use this interconnectedness as a guide.
