Edition Notes
Hildegaard Neroli is sourced from Citrus aurantium trees cultivated near Nabeul on the Cap Bon Peninsula of Tunisia. Blossoms are gathered in early spring at full unfurling, each flower hand-selected at the moment of peak aromatic presence.
The orchards are tended through integrated agricultural practices that preserve ecological continuity. Harvesting and distillation are carried out by the same producer, ensuring full traceability from tree to essence.
Within botanical tradition, neroli is understood as a floral presence of clarity and composure, long valued in rituals and preparations concerned with openness, sensory ease, and luminous equilibrium.
THE ANOINTING
Neroli is the fragrance of threshold — between what is and what is becoming. It carries the luminous quality of viriditas at its most delicate: the Living Light not yet made manifest, trembling at the edge of form. To anoint with neroli is to be held in that luminous threshold.
Place two or three drops into the palm. Bring the hands together and pause at the boundary of the gesture — this moment before neroli opens is itself a teaching. Then feel the blossom release: bright, sensual, ineffably alive, the scent of four hundred and fifty flowers, pressed. Hold the hands over the face and inhale as dawn light, gently and deeply. Anoint the face and neck with the innocence the oil itself possesses — unhurried and luminous.
THE BOTANICAL FOUNDATION
Every Hildegaard Haute Botanical Facial Oil is composed entirely of botanical ingredients, with a minimum of 98% organically cultivated origin. Each carrier oil is virgin, cold-pressed, and unrefined, preserving the full lipid integrity and native biological architecture of the plant.
Rosehip seed (Rosa canina) supports epidermal renewal and contributes to a more uniform tone across the skin’s surface. Pomegranate seed (Punica granatum) reinforces lipid structure and helps maintain the skin’s underlying firmness and tensile quality. Camellia seed (Camellia oleifera) enhances hydration retention and restores suppleness to the stratum corneum. Golden jojoba (Simmondsia chinensis) closely mirrors human sebum and helps regulate surface lipid balance, supporting a stable and coherent skin environment.
Borage (Borago officinalis) strengthens barrier function and supports skin comfort under conditions of sensitivity. Prickly pear seed (Opuntia ficus-indica) enhances lipid flexibility and contributes to a smoother, more refined skin texture. Red raspberry (Rubus idaeus) supports the skin’s resilience to environmental stressors and helps maintain dermal equilibrium. Evening primrose (Oenothera biennis) and sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) support cellular renewal processes and contribute to long-term tone uniformity and vitality.
Within this lipid foundation is a compendium of botanicals drawn from Western, Ayurvedic, and East Asian traditions of herbal preparation.
Centella asiatica supports connective tissue integrity and is traditionally used in preparations concerned with dermal repair and structural renewal. Calendula officinalis and Chamomilla recutita help reduce the sensation of reactivity and support cutaneous calm. Curcuma longa and Camellia sinensis provide antioxidant support and help protect the skin from oxidative stress linked to environmental exposure. Echinacea purpurea and Achillea millefolium are traditionally used to support purification processes and the reduction of congestion in the skin. Salvia rosmarinus and Salvia officinalis support microbial balance and help maintain a clarified skin environment. Silybum marianum supports cellular protection and contributes to the preservation of skin integrity within botanical traditions.
Together, these botanicals form a structured lipid and herbal system designed to support barrier integrity, lipid balance, epidermal renewal, and long-term cutaneous resilience—the skin understood as a living, self-organizing organ of perception and protection.
